Holler from the Squallers..

Posted on

We’re bustin’ to say the Squall Paddling Centre will spring forth 7 days a week starting April 2. Kathy and I often think back to 1985, stuffing a few boats, tents, packs and youthful hope into the tiny basement of our house. Throwing open the door and waiting…holy cow we waited, please god, let just one customer find us in the backwoods of Carling. Friends shook their heads as we said fair winds to a teaching career and gaily paddled off into another life. It somehow worked and we’re still here!
Delta Kayak Giveaway

Thanks to our friends out on the coast, for every $20 you donate to the district pool (Donate to the Pool) we’ll throw your name in the hat for a $1600. Delta 12S! Don’t forget to tell us you donated ([email protected]) cause we have the jar and will sing your praises to anyone who might listen.
Wild & Crazy Community Auction
Silent auction items are still coming in, all in support of the long awaited pool, and you can go now to: White Squall Silent Auction  to start bidding. Final bids will be live at the Paddling Film Festival, Sat. March 23 at the Stockey Centre in Parry Sound (Stockey Centre Box Office) Live music by Whiskeyjack, gourmet popcorn, beer, hot coffee and home-made desserts…and oh yeah, wonderful paddling films to get you thinking about springtime!
Should You Wash Your Underwear?

Yes you really should. My mom always said you should walk out the door in the morning with clean underwear cause you never know where you’ll end up. Also wanted to talk about your raincoat, and anything else you’ve spent a fortune on…I could go on and on – please stop me!Outerwear Care by Outdoor Research
Franklin Challenge – June 23, Snug Harbour

We’re furiously planning, so mark the date if you want to be part of the funnest thing you could do on a Sunday morning in June. We keep it to 100 paddlers and will open registration May 1. If you check our website (Franklin Challenge 2024) or our facebook page, you’ll be reminded! ‘Tis not a walk in the park, nor an ultra marathon – rather a good 20 km paddle with friends around Franklin Isle, named after a very famous turtle. We hope you can join in:)
Socks & Taylor Swift

We often give away Smartwool and Darn Tough socks in a shameless attempt to keep you ‘engaged’. We learned to do that on some government-sponsored tourism thingy where they also gave us donuts and weak coffee, think Taylor Swift was there too. Anyway, if you want to be in the running for a new pair of socks, please ‘engage’ by telling us, without googling – who wrote the song ‘White Squall’. Haven’t a clue? Try explaining in a sentence or two what a ‘White Squall’ might be, but not in winter – imagine the ‘open’ of Georgian Bay on a sultry summer eve…Rather spend your time on Taylor’s newsletter instead of ours? I get it. Just hit reply and say ‘bye bye tim’ and we’ll shake it off and take you off…tim
